From the founding of the People’s Republic of China in October 1949 to the establishment of the Chinese Wushu Association in 1958, this period marked the founding of socialist Wushu in China. Wushu became an important part of the sports industry of the People’s Republic of China. In the 1953 National Ethnic Sports Performance and Competition Conference, various forms of Wushu were displayed. In order to actively promote the development of Wushu, the country held Wushu routine competitions, carried out confrontational sports, and actively explored and created new rules and routines for Wushu competitions. Meanwhile, Wushu teaching and research activities in schools were gradually carried out, and discussions on the nature of Wushu and academic research were also continuously developing.
