Causal Mechanisms and Influencing Factors of Older Adults Living Alone

The challenges posed by older adults living alone extend beyond individual quality of life and social participation, encompassing social support and responses at the family, community, and governmental levels. Therefore, understanding the characteristics, influencing factors, and underlying mechanisms of this phenomenon is particularly crucial. Building upon the analysis in Chap. 4 , this chapter examines older adults in Japan who live alone by analyzing the features and associated factors of this phenomenon through a detailed exploration of several key independent variables, including residential area classification, differences in city size, and basic demographic characteristics.
