This chapter examines the advantages and disadvantages of digital cash transfers, as well as their effects on user convenience, speed, and security. It addresses issues like unequal distribution throughout the country, limited access to technology, and low levels of digital literacy. This chapter explores how digital technology can enhance government operations, reduce costs, and foster accountability and transparency. With a particular focus on programs such as the Old Age Allowance and the Allowance for Widows, this chapter illustrates how digital technologies can be effectively integrated into a country’s social welfare system. Ultimately, it offers recommendations that would strengthen the safety net, expand access to financial services for a broader population, and remove barriers to digital money transfers.
