As Artificial Intelligence (AI) develops rapidly, the field of interior design is undergoing a deep transformation from traditional aesthetics to intelligent aesthetics. AI not only brings new creative means to the design development process but also deeply reconstructs the layout, use, and aesthetic logic of interior space through phenomena such as smart homes, environmental perception, and human–computer interaction (HCI). Grounded in the context of AI technologies, this paper systematically reviews the changes in the aesthetic direction of contemporary interior design, such as the evolution of visual language caused by Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC), the changes in the experiential sense of interiors under AI perception, and the innovation of smart materials. It also analyzes the development direction of interior design under the action of AI: such as the personalized collaborative creation between human and computers, strong integration with smart home system, green and energy-saving space optimization, as well as the evolution of the educational and professional system. Through theoretical analysis and case comparisons, this paper indicates how AI technology promotes the multifaceted evolution of interior design, provides methodological inspiration and guidance for future design practices.
