Water conservation initiatives are a widely known concept, especially in areas facing water scarcity. Many places have successfully implemented systematic water-saving programs, and data on their success and monitoring are included and discussed in detail in this chapter. We focus on the current situation, particularly in developing countries, and explore the tools and technologies that have already been demonstrated to be successful. This chapter highlights the application of these tools and technologies in the hotel industry, highlighting the benefits for hotel management, guests, and the environment. Case studies of successful implementations are presented, including a recent example from Bangalore, India. In Bangalore, water shortages during the summer led the government to implement a policy requiring all industries, including the hospitality sector, to install aerated taps to conserve water. A fine system was also introduced for those who violated this policy. Other case studies are also included.

摘要
