Conclusion

The objective of this book has been to examine which factors facilitate and impede access to social care at the individual, community and system levels by individually and comparatively examining Asian case studies with different socio-economic contexts. This chapter first compares the findings of the volume’s chapters, to develop a conceptual approach for examining access to social care. It then draws attention to its usefulness in comparing access to social care in different socio-economic contexts and specific regions, such as Asia. Finally, the chapter compares the presented conceptual framework to existing theories of access to health care to demonstrate the ways it builds on and extends existing theoretical frameworks to facilitate an analysis of access to social care.
