Research on the Impact of Greening and Location Morphology on Thermal Comfort of Pocket Parks Based on Ladybug Tools Simulation

This study takes three typical pocket parks in Qingdao as cases, aiming to explore the influence of greening, spatial form and location layout on outdoor thermal comfort. The study adopted the parametric simulation method of Ladybug Tools, combined with meteorological data and UTCI indicators, to quantitatively analyze the thermal comfort of pocket parks. The results show that there is a “threshold effect” in the green coverage rate, and a high green coverage rate of over 70% can significantly improve the thermal environment. The role of spatial form depends on the level of greening. For instance, the strip layout forms ventilation corridors under high greening and becomes heat channels under low greening. The interaction of design factors follows the “short board effect”, with green coverage taking precedence over form optimization as the foundation. The insufficiency of the research lies in the simplification of vegetation parameters and the failure to consider human behavioral factors. This study provides empirical evidence and optimization strategies for the refined design of pocket parks.
