Planning in Nigerian Business
摘要
This chapter seeks to explore some key aspects of the adoption or otherwise of corporate strategic planning in large-scale industrial and commercial organizations in an emerging Nigerian economy, especially against the background of the unstable and rapidly changing business environment characteristic of the country. Four important areas of interest were explored, namely the formal statement of corporate objectives, extent of corporate planning systems, management and organization development as well as investment criteria and procedure. Research findings revealed that modern management practices in each of these areas have become well established in large-scale enterprises in Nigeria based on several years of association with multinational corporations and/or assistance from international consulting firms.
