Aging-Aware Cruise Lift Coefficient Optimization of Electric Aircraft for Battery Lifetime Endurance Maximization

The growing adoption of electric propulsion in aviation underscores the significance of efficient energy storage systems, while lithium-ion battery degradation notably impairs flight endurance of electric aircraft and operational reliability. This study aims to model cycle-based voltage behavior and develop a predictive approach for remaining range over the battery lifespan. Using cycle performance data, it analyzes voltage characteristics and their correlation with discharging behavior, proposes a linear increment method to predict total endurance range across the battery life cycle, and validates this method via experimental results. Additionally, automatic differentiation is employed to optimize lift coefficient and maximize the achievable flight range.
