摘要

Usadha Bali, as a heritage of local wisdom rooted in traditional Balinese medicine, holds great potential for cultural preservation and local economic development. Its practice is based on Lontar Usada, ancient manuscripts written in Balinese on palm leaves, which contain extensive knowledge of disease treatment. These manuscripts, preserved in institutions such as Gedong Kirtya, the Bali Language Center, and private collections, are not only primary references in Usadha practice but also significant cultural assets. The Bali Provincial Government, through Regulation No. 55 of 2019 and Regional Regulation No. 6 of 2020, has legitimised Usadha as an official health service that supports economic sustainability. This integration of local wisdom into modern policy demonstrates the synergy between cultural preservation and economic advancement. This book chapter explores how Usadha Bali, with its educational, philosophical, and economic values, can serve as a model for sustainable culture-based businesses. Using a case study approach, it highlights opportunities for developing Usadha Bali as a culture-based venture that supports health tourism and strengthens Bali’s global position in traditional medicine. The study provides insights into how ancient wisdom can remain relevant in addressing contemporary needs.
