The ocean-based economies, or “blue economy” (BE), which refers to the correct usage of marine resources for a nation's sustainable monetary progress, is increasingly regarded as a promising sector in Bangladesh. The BE is a Gunter Pauli initiated - economic model that places a strong emphasis on industries including fisheries, mariculture, transport, hospitality, maritime, and energy, that are reliant on the sea for their livelihoods. As the maritime sectors are the key drivers of the global economy and have enormous potential for expansion and development of the coastal areas, BE development supports the sustainable development of ocean-based sectors. This study explores the prospects for the marine economy, its potential for future coming innovation and employment generation, and its role in addressing pressing challenges. Fishing is one of the primary occupations of coastal communities; yet, current fishing techniques are inefficient and fail to ensure their welfare. BE offers tremendous potential for nation’s future growth. Even though marine resources are readily available, BE concepts and components have not yet been fully implemented. For the growth of BE in Bangladesh, multi sectoral collaboration and strategic implementation are essential. BE must explore actionable strategies that can enhance its long-term growth potential, while monitoring and ensuring the responsible and sustainable use of the ocean and resources. Bangladesh may find BE to be a helpful tool in achieving SDG -14 Life Below Water.

摘要
