Gandhi proposes a novel way for resolving conflicts, that the approach to it should show concordance with the quest for truth. And since this quest is a difficult one, the person making the effort should be willing to perish. This understanding can be seen in his various writings concerning the individual and his relationship with the community, or on the relationship between communities. The proposal is that since conflicts with oneself or the others are a reality, it would require one to be truthful and non-violent while seeking resolution–since breaking the chain of causal effects is necessay to prevent violent reactions.
