Multisensory in the Metaverse: Designing Textile Data and Informative Feedback
摘要
The rise of the metaverse is unlocking exciting new ways for us to connect with technology, where our very bodies and what we wear are poised to become active players. This article dives into the potential of smart textiles to create a truly embodied, almost intuitive way to interact within these immersive digital worlds. Imagine clothing that not only senses what’s happening around us and within us but also provides feedback that feels natural and integrated. While smart textiles hold incredible promise for capturing our senses and giving us information back, making them feel like a seamless and effective part of the metaverse experience still presents some interesting design puzzles. This study shines a light on how crucial thoughtful information design and, especially, well- crafted feedback are to solving these puzzles. We’re laying out a way of thinking about designing smart textile interfaces for the metaverse that puts these design considerations front and center. Our goal is to figure out how to create interactions that feel fluid, meaningful, and truly two-way. We’ll be pinpointing key design ideas that keep you, the user, and the virtual environment in mind. We’ll also be exploring creative ways to show information and provide sensory feedback that work with the unique qualities of smart textiles. By looking closely at what’s holding us back right now and suggesting a design approach that focuses on clear information and intuitive feedback, this research aims to inspire new paths for creating wearable tech that genuinely feels like a natural extension of ourselves within the immersive and interactive future of the metaverse
