The electromagnetic launch makes the load to a specified speed within a short distance. The motor needs to brake in a short distance after the launch. Therefore, it is necessary to design an appropriate braking system. Eddy current system is widely used in urban rail trains and high-speed rail braking system, owing to its simple structure, safety, reliability, and no requirement for external power supply. This paper designs an eddy current braking scheme. The material and structure of the braking plates are selected with the simulation. It provides a basic for the application of the eddy current braking on the launch.
