Event Reduction

Since the electron antineutrino signal is hidden by an enormous background yield, event reduction is important. The reduction step consists of three steps: the precut, the spallation reduction, and the third reduction. The precut reduces poor-quality events with relaxed criteria. According to the correlation with the muon events, the spallation reduction is checked. The third reduction consists of more sophisticated features of event patterns in addition to the tighter quality requirements. Then, the neutron coincidence is confirmed. Those chains of reductions are described in this chapter.
