Conventional methodologies used in teaching history have been limited in their effectiveness due to their tedious and repetitive nature. This circumstance can significantly diminish student interest and, consequently, undermine the very purpose of the subject. This loss of focus and the resulting superficiality can discourage students, even in their efforts to explore the subject independently. However, thanks to the advancement of new technologies and the adoption of innovative approaches in pedagogy, multiple possibilities have opened to revitalize the learning process. Among the most notable alternatives in recent years are educational video games. While their concept is not new, their effectiveness as an educational tool has been widely recognized, thanks to their ability to create dynamic and immersive environments that capture student attention, promoting stimulating and lasting learning. This paper presents the design, development, and evaluation of an educational video game intended to facilitate the learning and teaching of Mexican history for secondary school students. A thorough preliminary analysis, based on a review of previous educational video games, guides the various stages of this work: analysis, design, development, testing, and validation. The goal is to offer an engaging learning strategy that, while one of many available options, aims to stimulate interest in history and foster independent learning among students. The results obtained after feedback corroborate the game is effectiveness as an efficient, didactic, interactive, and entertaining educational tool, providing the necessary elements for students to achieve the desired knowledge.
