Scaffolds in materials science are really important in regenerative medicine. In this chapter, we describe the key roles of scaffolds in materials science, including the relevance of structural support, porosity, permeability, mechanical properties, surface chemistry, and biodegradability to their well-functioning inside an organism. Subsequently, we discuss the different scaffolds used in the field of materials and their fabrication methods. To finish, a quick insight of the applications of scaffolds in materials science is summarized.
