Conclusion: Continuity and Future Directions for Chinese Language Education in the Nordic Countries

This chapter explores pathways for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) in the Nordic region amid global educational transformation and the rise of artificial intelligence. It proposes three important strategies: establishing a Nordic Community of Practice (CoP) to promote pedagogical exchange and AI-integrated teaching aligned with regional educational values; supporting the professional development of both local and immigrant TCFL teachers through linguistic and cultural integration; and fostering the Nordic sinological tradition as a foundation for culturally grounded instruction. Emphasizing the region’s digital innovation and learner-centered ethos, the article argues that AI offers not only technological advancement but also a pedagogical opportunity to enhance TCFL in Nordic contexts.
