This chapter presents the research methodology of the study reported in the book. It describes the convergent mixed-methods design, the research sites and participants, and the instruments used to collect data on metacognitive strategy use, task complexity, and speaking performance in computer-delivered multimodal speaking tasks. The chapter also explains the procedures for instrument validation, data collection, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and the measures taken to ensure validity, reliability, and ethical rigour throughout the research process.
