Social Entrepreneurship can be a challenging topic to teach in business schools, as students often see its goals in opposition to the basic idea of a capitalistic system. The thought is that pursuit of a profit is not compatible with more community-minded goals. This is not, however, actually the case. In this chapter, we will argue that there is a way to teach students that concern for the community can be operationalized in a way that not only allows positive impacts on the community, but which provides a more positive environment for the capitalistic enterprise to thrive. We will advance our prospective through the use of basic Gandhian ideas in both the instruction of students and in the research that supports the business academy.
