Private education in Laos has grown dramatically due to several reasons, namely, economic growth, population growth, and enrolment rate. The Lao government attempts to figure out the way to supply quality education for the Lao people. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Sport (MOES) has a certain policy to encourage the development of private education in the country. It can be seen through the increasing number of private educations (from primary level to higher education) in the academic year 2017–2018. These schools are under the supervision of MOES. This paper intends to investigate the leadership styles in private colleges in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The questionnaire was employed with the 104 participants in ten colleges in Vientiane. The findings indicate that the transformational leadership style is the most preferable leadership style because the participants feel good being with the supervisors in this style. Other styles like transactional leadership, authoritative leadership, and laissez-faire are taken as the second, third and fourth preferable styles respectively.
