Globalization and English Language Education as Agent for a Rise of Private P-12 Education in Thailand
摘要
In the twenty-first century, one of the areas where the influence of globalization is clearly evident is the growth of private education. This is particularly noticeable in the countries belonging to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The expansion is evident in the increasing number of private educational institutions offering international and English Medium Instruction (EMI) programs. Thailand is among the countries that have witnessed growth in this sector. However, there is a lack of studies specifically focusing on Thai private education. Most of the existing literature concentrates on organizational structure, statistics, policies, and governance. Therefore, this article examines the historical background and current trends in private P-12 Education in Thailand in the context of the EMI education phenomenon with globalization as its background.
