摘要
Chemical biology aims to unravel the mysteries of life by utilizing the power of chemistry, especially compounds. I want to add small molecule compounds (such as ATP and hormones) after the flow of DNA→RNA→protein, which is the central dogma of life. Research on posttranslational modifications of proteins (addition of sugar chains and fatty acids) and protein degradation (ubiquitination and proteasome) has progressed, and inhibitors of enzymes that control important life functions have been developed. Tunicamycin [1], found as a glycoprotein synthesis inhibitor in the field of glycoscience, is used as an essential reagent for endoplasmic reticulum stress research [2]. Furthermore, Tamiflu, a neuraminidase inhibitor, is used as an antiviral drug in treatment [3].
