When publishing data from glycan-related experiments, many researchers have become accustomed to uploading and publishing in the supplementary data of papers or recommended databases (repositories). However, in the current artificial intelligence (AI) boom, it is most important to publish data that guarantees accuracy and comprehensiveness. The importance of metadata (explanatory information or annotations) added to the data is significant. However, if a large amount of data is combined and learned without understanding accurate metadata, it can lead to incorrect predictions and the risk of spreading information that is different from the facts. Therefore, MIRAGE was established as a guideline to follow when writing papers. MIRAGE [1] is an abbreviation for Minimum Information Required for A Glycomics Experiment, a series of guidelines set by the MIRAGE committee to define the minimum information required when reporting on experiments related to glycans, such as mass spectrometry, glycan arrays, and liquid chromatography (see Fig. 160.1). MIRAGE is supported by the Beilstein Institute in Germany, and the MIRAGE committee is made up of renowned glycoscientists from around the world.
