Glycoprotein-Based Biotechnological Products
摘要
Biotechnological products are peptide/protein drugs produced using recombinant DNA technology and cell culture techniques for the purpose of treating diseases. In Japan, over 200 types of peptide/protein drugs have been approved, with more than 80% classified as biotechnological products [1]. In the development of new modalities, biotechnological products represent a large proportion, and drug products addressing high social medical needs are continuously emerging. Additionally, many biotechnological products are glycosylated, and glycoprotein-based biotechnological products account for approximately two-thirds of all peptide/protein drugs (Fig. 109.1). These include monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), blood coagulation factors and inhibitors, enzymes, hormones, cytokines, and receptors, with mAbs accounting for the majority (Fig. 109.2).
