In an article of the “Chicago Daily Tribune” of 9 January 1967 (p.5), one reads that in 1967, on the eighth anniversary of Fidel Castro’s revolution, Queen Elizabeth sent her congratulations to the Communist regime in the following terms: “I send to your excellency my cordial congratulations and my good wishes.” The article continues by observing that Great Britain has diplomatic relations with Beijing and Hanoi. Finally, it concludes somewhat bitterly that “Americans are dying in Vietnam while Britain is trading with the governments that are doing the killing and supplying the weapons. It seems that loyalty to Britain comes before loyalty to America.”

摘要
