In this approach, the GSM towers play a critical role in locating the mobile phone since they receive signals from the lost device and use that information to recover the delayed frequency. The distance between a lost cell phone and a certain tower can also be determined using these delayed frequencies. Because simple GSM and CDMA cell phones are used by many ordinary people worldwide, this technology can therefore be made easier for the general public.
