Economic–Environmental Dispatch of Thermal Power Plants Using the Newton-Raphson Optimization Algorithm
摘要
This article presents a research study focused on minimizing generation costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in predominantly thermal power systems by employing a Newton-Raphson-Based Optimization algorithm (NRBO). The proposed methodology addresses the economic-environmental dispatch (EED) problem, incorporating valve-point loading effects and various operational constraints inherent to electric power systems. The performance of the Newton-Raphson algorithm is benchmarked against other optimization techniques applied in similar case studies. The results obtained from test systems composed of 3 and 10 thermal generation units demonstrate that the proposed algorithm yields optimal and superior solutions compared to conventional methods. The strategy proves effective in balancing fuel costs and emission levels, thereby offering a robust solution to the economic-environmental dispatch challenge.
