Application Methods and Practices of XR Technology in Virtual Production for Sci-Fi Short Films: A Case Study of “TRIAL”
摘要
As an emerging production method in the film and television industry, virtual production is progressively reshaping the workflow of sci-fi filmmaking. This paper systematically examines the application methods and practical experience of XR technology in virtual production, using the competition entry “TRIAL” as a case study. Research indicates that XR technology effectively overcomes limitations in traditional filming regarding scene scale, safety, and cost. It enables efficient real-time pre-visualization, seamless integration of live-action and digital assets, and a true “what you see is what you get” experience, providing a viable production paradigm for complex sci-fi narratives.
