In the design of UAVs, well-known aerodynamic principles are generally employed; however, it is imperative to consider the features inherent in unmanned vehicles. The fundamental distinction between UAVs and manned aircraft lies in the absence of a human pilot aboard the former. Concurrently, the absence of a pilot generally enables the miniaturization of flying vehicles. Miniaturization is a viable solution for numerous tasks where the mass and dimensions of the device’s payload are less than the mass of a typical human being. Examples of such applications include piloting and surveillance.
