Meditation and Spirituality

摘要

In an era of growing religious skepticism, interest in spiritual exploration continues to rise. Humanity’s intrinsic curiosity about the inner self and personal fulfillment remains constant, people seek spirituality as a path toward authenticity and transcendence beyond existing limitations. Meditation serves as a key approach to addressing fundamental existential questions: Who am I? Why does suffering exist? What is my relationship to the world and others? These profound inquiries require deep spiritual reflection, regardless of religious affiliation. Traditional religious concepts like Buddhist nirvana or Christianity’s kingdom of God represent an inner spiritual revolution rather than external world transformation. Meditation practices vary across cultures, emerging as a significant research topic in contemporary psychology and health sciences. Diverse methods—including prayer, mantras, breathing techniques, philosophical approaches, and artistic media—enable individuals to decenter the self and explore spiritual dimensions. These practices aim to help individuals rediscover their authentic life essence. Research demonstrates meditation’s tangible benefits: stress reduction, enhanced cognitive function, and improved emotional regulation. Furthermore, spirituality profoundly influences personal growth and social connectedness. Through systematic literature reviews and empirical analysis, researchers continue to uncover the complex mechanisms by which spiritual practices contribute to holistic human well-being.
