Mindfulness-Based Intervention for Depression

  • Ji-Ae Yun

摘要

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for Depression has been developed as an 8-week course group therapy to educate patients on how they can escape the maladaptive cognitive process through the integration of mindfulness meditation training and cognitive behavior skills. Unlike previous depression treatments, which focused on treating acute episodes and alleviating painful depressive symptoms, MBCT focuses on ensuring that people get along well after the depressive episode is over to reduce the risk of recurrence. The ultimate purpose of MBCT is not just to improve symptoms, but to fundamentally improve the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations that cause a deeper level of understanding in patients, preventing depression from recurring.
