Esophageal Motility Test, Esophagram
摘要
Esophagram allows for the observation of the movement of the bolus within the esophagus as well as esophageal motility. Esophagram can be performed at many institutes and is useful for detecting esophageal motility and evaluating treatment efficacy. Timed barium esophagram (TBE) is useful for quantitative evaluation of esophageal motility. In addition, morphology and degree of dilation of the esophagus can be assessed by not esophageal manometry but esophagram, which are associated with treatment outcome. The sensitivity of detecting esophageal motility disorders is higher when solid objects or foods are ingested in combination with liquids than when liquids are ingested alone. Usefulness of esophagram with barium tablet, marshmallow, and onigiri is reported.
