With the promotion of large-scale new energy construction in the “Shage Desert” area, the problems of power abandonment and grid connection caused by the limitation of cross regional transmission capacity continue to exist. The gravity energy storage technology with strong environmental adaptability and zero self discharge rate advantage can adapt to the consumption and large-scale external transmission needs of the above-mentioned new energy bases. Based on this, this article focuses on the problem of insufficient inertia support capacity of the high proportion new energy transmission end power grid, and studies the technology and application status of vertical gravity energy storage. It systematically analyzes the impact of high proportion new energy access on the safe and stable operation of the system. Based on the operational characteristics of vertical gravity energy storage systems, study the inertia support scheme for gravity energy storage. This work can provide reference and guidance for the future research and engineering application of vertical gravity energy storage grid connection technology.
