Given the significant environmental differences across different regions, automobile components are facing various corrosion failures. In extremely cold regions, the usage of deicing salt causes severe corrosive issues for the vehicles. To assess the corrosion effect of deicing salt accurately, the characteristics of common deicing salts and the corrosion mechanism of deicing salt on automobile components are comprehensively researched in this article. Furthermore, a systematic comparison of the cyclic corrosion test methods was conducted. Finally, the corrosiveness of the same deicing salt method to different components was compared through cyclic corrosion experiments.
