Design of an IoT-Based Smart Water Level Monitoring and Control System for Farmland
摘要
To address the challenges of low efficiency and high costs in manual irrigation, this study designs an intelligent IoT-based farmland monitoring system leveraging LoRa and 4G networks [1], aligned with the demands of precision agriculture. The system adopts a three-tier architecture: Perception Layer: LoRa-enabled sensor nodes are deployed to form a wide-area network, covering expansive farmlands while performing multi-point water level monitoring and automatic irrigation execution. Transport Layer: Data from all perception-layer sensors is aggregated by LoRa gateways and transmitted efficiently to the Alibaba Cloud IoT platform via 4G networks. Application Layer: Utilizing data services from Alibaba Cloud, a mobile application that enables real-time remote visualization of field water status and supports user-defined irrigation thresholds for intelligent control. The system achieves precise hydrological sensing and data-driven irrigation decisions by integrating LoRa’s extensive coverage and low-power networking with 4G’s reliable backhaul. It significantly reduces labor costs and operational complexity, providing an efficient and reliable solution for smart agricultural [8] management.
