Magnetic materials are widely used in biomedical research, including cancer diagnosis and therapy. Magneto-mechanical force-mediated cancer therapy, one of several magnetic materials-based cancer therapy methods, has received recent attention. A low-frequency dynamic magnetic field is used to activate nano- or microscale magnetic particles, causing them to vibrate, rotate, or perform other complex motions. When moving magnetic particles come into contact with cells and tissues, they transfer energy to them, which may result in damage. If cancer cells within tumor tissue are damaged by such physical forces, tumor growth may be slowed. This magneto-mechanical force-mediated therapy may also trigger an antitumor immune response. This chapter explores different types of magnetic materials and magnetic fields used to destroy cancer cells through magneto-mechanical forces, as well as the parameters that influence cell-killing efficiency, along with the benefits and drawbacks of these therapeutic approaches.
