The Student-Faculty Partnership in China: The Three Vital Stages to Growing a Fruitful Tree
摘要
This paper explores a three-year collaborative journey between four Chinese students and an EFL instructor in one of the Sino-American Universities in China. This partnership resembles the nurturing of an apple tree, tracing its growth through three key stages: seed, young tree, and fruit-bearing tree. It began with students contributing ideas and suggestions after EFL class observations, such as using Quizlet and active note-taking techniques. As the partnership evolved, participants faced challenges like a seed breaking through its shell to grow roots, necessitating careful time management and perseverance. Afterward, progressing from local to international conference attendance, the team showcased their growth, eventually transitioning to taking charge as authors in writing research papers, signifying a remarkable transformation. This comprehensive SaP journey transformed each member, emphasizing the hope that this experience rooted in the Three Rs (i.e., respect, reciprocity, and responsibility) will inspire similar fruitful collaborations among the participants in their future pursuits.
