Students as Partners (SaP) projects have become a focal point of teaching development at HKU, covering various areas. SaP projects are not only seen as opportunities for student learning enhancement but also for teacher professional development (PD) in Hong Kong universities. However, most existing PD activities, such as seminars and workshops, are considered disconnected from teachers’ everyday work. In contrast, informal learning in PD refers to social learning in the workplace, where teachers can engage in non-formal conversations without explicit planning. Evans (2019) suggests that while difficult to measure, such informal learning is more influential in creating motivational, private, dialogic, constructive, and personalised experiences. This chapter reflects on the existing formal PD at a Hong Kong university and proposes that Co-Creation (CC) Café could provide opportunities for informal learning. The CC Café is a potential informal setting for triggering meaningful pedagogical conversation. This chapter also presents how CC Café evolves to integrate into PD events.

摘要
