Students as Partners (SaP) is a collaborative and reciprocal approach to student voice where co-creation and two way dialogue between students and staff impacts teaching and learning across the institution. In the past ten years, there has been a rise Students as Partners (SaP) practices in Australian higher education institutes, and a swell in dedicated scholarship from educators and researchers, reflecting an appetite for authentic student-led approaches to higher education. This introduction chapter reflects on the different frameworks and principles that inform current global practices, including those in the subsequent chapters. Rather than a one-size-fits all framework, uniting principles and themes like trust, agency, space and positionality define each partnership, each one a unique product of the environment, the participants, their cultures and backgrounds. The chapter stresses the importance of grounding future SaP projects in existing knowledge while moving forward and reflecting on what makes each partnership unique.

摘要
