Integrated Seepage and Slope Stability Model Accounting for Tension Cracks in Landslide Analysis
摘要
Rainfall is an important factor in the collapse of sloping terrain. Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India, has experienced numerous landslides in the past due to its topography, geological formations, and rainfall intensities. The numerical model was created in view of determining the impact of unsaturated soil properties, rainfall intensity, and duration on slopes using parametric analysis. Tension cracks in the slope act as a convenient pathway for rainfall to enter the deep soil layers and accelerate the failure mechanism. This study presents an integrated slope stability model with seepage analysis that accounts for tension cracks in slopes. Hence, this model identifies the critical failure surface, predicts the duration for critical slope failure, and evaluates slope stability for specific rainfall intensity. The study aids in understanding the adverse effects of tension cracks, rainfall intensity, and unsaturated soil behavior on the stability of the slope.
