摘要

In today’s scenario, all the application is based on networking that too in wireless mode. The Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) plays a vital role in all kinds of real time monitoring, disaster management, rescue operations etc. A wireless sensor network’s lifetime is determined by its associated battery, which cannot be changed too frequently after deployment. So, the energy consumption should be given at most care. The data communication consumes more energy compared to sensing and processing in WSN. Cluster based communication is the common energy saving technique followed in WSN, and also there are numerous routing protocols that supports efficient communication between nodes. Though there are various clustering techniques, not all aspects are considered in all the protocols like residual energy, cluster head allocation, characteristics of sink node which are mobile and stationary and so on. In this paper, a novel clustering technique EAMVC (Energy Aware Multi Variant Based Clustering) is proposed which concentrates on all the above mentioned multi criteria parameters. In the established clustering network, the selection of cluster head (CH) node is based on the residual energy and link loss. CHs are placed in the network in a load balanced way that is away from each other by calculating the position. The newly elected CH will not be nearer to the previous CH, as this helps to save the energy. NS2 simulator is used for the simulation. From simulation results, proposed clustering algorithm consumes minimum energy for node grouping that improves network lifetime to attain better data packet transmission.
