According to Article 15(6) of the TRIPS Agreement, WTO members must provide a reasonable opportunity to request the cancellation of a trademark registration, as well as an opportunity to oppose the registration of a trademark. WTO members are therefore obligated to provide for a trademark invalidation procedure, but not for an opposition procedure, which is optional.
