Xiqu communication in the 20th century was rooted in its specific social background. Without this background, deeply exploring the formation of xiqu communication mechanisms during this period is impossible. Many factors constituted the background of xiqu communication in the 20th century, but considering all aspects, this chapter identifies three major factors: the main theme of social change, the prosperity of media, and the transformation of the social structure.
