Emerging, re-emerging, and occupational zoonoses epitomize significant threats to global public health. This chapter compiles the dynamic landscape of these zoonotic diseases, exploring the factors driving their emergence, resurgence, and impact on specific occupational groups. We discuss the ecological, social, and economic drivers contributing to the emergence of novel zoonotic pathogens, such as deforestation, wildlife trade, and climate change. Moreover, we analyse the reasons behind the resurgence of previously controlled or eradicated diseases, including antimicrobial resistance and breakdowns in public health infrastructure. The chapter also focuses on occupational zoonoses, highlighting the risks faced by individuals in professions like agriculture, veterinary medicine, and wildlife management. Finally, we discuss strategies for the prevention, surveillance, and control of these zoonotic diseases, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and a One Health approach to mitigate their impact on human health.
