Zoonotic Clostridial Infection
摘要
Clostridium species are a group of anaerobic bacteria that can cause various diseases in both animals and humans. Some notable zoonotic Clostridium pathogens include Clostridium perfringens (food born zoonosis), Clostridium botulinum (food born zoonosis), Clostridium tetani (Occupational or environmental zoonosis), Clostridium septicum (Neglected tropical zoonosis) Clostridium novyi (Neglected tropical zoonosis), and Clostridium difficile (Direct zoonosis). These bacteria are known for their ability to produce potent toxins, leading to severe health issues such as food poisoning, gastrointestinal diseases, and other infections. Among all above zoonotic species of Clostridium, the Clostridium difficile has emerged as potent zoonotic pathogen, which involves primarily with healthcare settings, particularly among hospitalized patients who had received antibiotics.
