Based on the cranial features of the individual from Burial M44 at the Qiaotou site, the reconstructed appearance of the Shangshan people is as follows: an ovoid cranium; mesocranic to dolichocranic, hypsicranic, with medium cranial breadth; a high and moderately broad face; mesoconch orbits; a sloping forehead; orthognathous profile; moderate facial flatness; and an indeterminate nasal form. These physical traits correspond to the (“Mongolian race”).
