Zheng Hangsheng is an important historical figure in the history of contemporary Chinese sociology. In the historical period when the pattern of China and the West was changing rapidly, Zheng Hangsheng was early to perceive the necessity and realistic possibility of theoretical consciousness, deeply thought about the future development of Chinese sociology, actively participated in the restoration and reconstruction of Chinese sociology, and became a pioneer of theoretical consciousness; he called for the construction of China's own sociological theory system, the reconstruction of local words, the promotion of knowledge production, the creation of Chinese sociological theories with both world vision and Chinese style, the enhancement of the academic discourse power of Chinese sociology, and the non-dance in the Western cage, becoming an advocate of theoretical consciousness; based on a sense of disciplinary mission and theoretical courage, Zheng Hangsheng put forward five original macro-sociological theories, including social operation theory, social transformation theory, disciplinary local theory, social mutual construction theory and practice structure theory as he preaches, becoming a pioneer voice of theoretical consciousness; through the top-down and application expansion, Zheng Hangsheng and his academic team conducted in-depth urban and rural research, refined Chinese experience, and formed a series of middle-range theories, becoming a promoter of theoretical consciousness. His outstanding contribution to Chinese sociology deserves to be inherited and carried forward by sociologists.
