Breast Cancer

This chapter delineates the challenges women and men face after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Current knowledge on breast cancer epidemiology, pathology, and types of diagnostic imaging techniques is reviewed, and the types of breast cancer treatment for different subtypes are presented. Special attention is given to introducing what progress has recently been made in the fields of supportive care, palliative care, and survivorship care, including what supportive measures are available in Japan to facilitate cancer patients’ continued employment while undergoing treatment and a smooth return to work.
