Operations and Management Frameworks for DRT
摘要
Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) represents a dynamic solution to the challenges of a mismatch between transportation supply and demand in urban and rural low-density areas. This chapter traces the historical development of DRT and proposes a comprehensive management framework. Key operational aspects—such as demand forecasting, route optimization, and fleet management—are examined in relation to the technological and institutional models that influence DRT system efficiency. Emphasis is placed on user-centric design, real-time adaptive management, and the integration of emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles and Mobility as a Service (MaaS). The proposed framework aims to provide actionable insights for improving the operational success and sustainability of DRT systems worldwide. Core topics addressed in this book include scalable routing algorithms, multimodal integration, and innovations in service efficiency, equity, and sustainability.
